My name is Patrick D Miles (age 26) and I am charged with upholding my Gr. GR. Gr. grandfathers unheeded call for justice.

That man was Nelson A Miles, commanding general of the west during this period.

He was also a civil war hero who(along with Custer)was the youngest general in U.S. history up till WW2. He then went on to campaings the west including battles with Sitting Bull, Crazy horse on wolf mountain (in a blizzard) and many more.
Then He became commander in chief of the army from 1896-1903, the sioux called him "Bearcoat" and some considered him bulletproof.

Why then if he was the best Indian fighter that ever lived is he so revered by Indians????
The answer is because he was also the leading propronent of Indian rights in a time where most whitemen would rather exterminate indians instead of peaceful coexistance.
In Nelsons own words about the commanding officer at wounded knee He writes his wife" The Forsyth action was A useless slaughter of innocent women and children.
Every day we hear of poor women, little girls and boys and children found dead and frozen to the ground,
or crawling over the prairie, for A distance of 100 miles north and south . At the time the fight commenced(when A bullet was discharged
when two soldier tried to disarm an indian)only two troops could fire upon the warriorsb (mostly unarmed) ,but they could and did fire upon the women and children.

Nelson goes on..."that Forsyth case is very bad.. He showed himself to be utterly incompetent and unfit for any command.

I see my enemies (Gen.Crook and many others who were about as honorable and just as their names!)
have taken up his case and propose to attack me on that score.
If they wish to support the most abomitable, criminal military blunder and a horrible massacre of women and children I am ready to meet them on that ground!"

The general public did not share Miles's indignation. Miles's treatment in calling for Forsyth's head was considered harsh,
while secretary of War Proctor, and Scofield agreed unanimously to "vindicate" the 7th cavalry.(how nice of them)
The board of inquiry found no evidence that Forsyth was guilty of carelessness, and even went so far as to exonerate him and restore his command.

Miles felt the honor of the army and the country had been sacrificed. Indeed it had, and until he died he tried to get the government to own up to the atrocities,
and greed and to give back land and some sort of compensation for our "manifest destiny atrocities".

Manifest destiny was the biggest excuse to conquer and subjugate anything in our way that this continent had ever seen!
!" Don't blame the sioux for calling us "wasichu",
in A time where radical white people blow up federal buildings without a good reason, I find it incredible the restraint shown by Indian peoples
who we have always screwed over(and still are). It is a further indication of their honor and that we dared to call them "savages"
when it apparent now that we and our government are the real savages.

Please help our cause and sign the petitions on recindment of the wounded knee medals of dishonor, and try to mend the horrible things that continue to these wonderful people.

Patrick D. Miles

P.s. wanted to go on forever, if anyone wishes to contact me please do so.
